If you work in the service industry, plan on traveling or are just trying to enrich yourself, a second language is a good way to improve yourself. The economy being what it is, adding another tuition bill to your monthly commitments may not be such a great idea. However, finding the best program to learn Spanish is both inexpensive and just as effective.
Trying to find the right program can be a little challenging. The last thing you want to do is get the program home and then find out that it isn't worth the CD that it comes on. Your best bet is to get something like Rocket Spanish that has a proven track record and that review after review tells you it is easy to understand and very effective.
Learning a new language does not have to be tough, but a lot of people make it that way. The refusal to let go and get back to basic learning is the largest obstacle people will usually face. You must go back to kindergarten in regards to speaking if you are going to start out on the right foot and learn a new language.
In order to do this, you are going to have to think the language. You cannot just hear it and translate words, you must actually train your brain to think in the language that you are speaking. You already think in English when you speak it, why would you think that you wouldn't have to think in Spanish if you are going to speak that?
After you learn to think in the language that you are trying to learn, the rest is downhill. You already know how to conjugate verbs and use tenses, so it is just a matter of adapting everything that you know to the new language. Within a few weeks, you will be able to have a conversation!
